TEDxNatick Announces May 31 Salon Event
TEDxNatick has become overwhelmingly popular in town, and a number of fans have expressed the opinion that once a year is just not enough. A solution is at hand. Over the past few months, the TEDxNatick organizing committee has developed a smaller, more intimate program, one that offers a new way to interact with speakers and fellow attendees.
TEDxNatick calls this a “Salon” event, and the first one will take place at The Center for Arts in Natick (TCAN), the venue known across the area for high quality arts events. At the Salon (May 31, 6:30 to 8:30PM), attendees will have the opportunity to meet and share ideas with a number of speakers from TEDxNatick, while enjoying food and refreshments. Tickets for the TEDxNatick Salon are $15 and available at www.natickarts.org.

Nahid Bhadelia, Frontline Ebola Physician
Nahid is the Director of Infection Control and Medical Response at National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratory (NEIDL) at Boston University. She served as a frontline physician during the recent Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone and understands the global challenges of addressing epidemics in a modern world.
Paul Castagno, Martial Arts Instructor
Paul is a 5th degree black belt and multi-style martial artist. He is the head instructor and owner of Revolution Martial Fitness in Natick. With over 20 years of martial arts training, Paul teaches his students that compassion and respect for others, non-violent conflict resolution, personal responsibility and a deep appreciation for friendship, community, education, and family are critical aspects of being a black belt.
Maeve Sheehy, Student at Natick High
Maeve is a sophomore at Natick High school. She is an honors student, athlete, and advocate for those with disabilities. When not busy with school, she enjoys horseback riding, coaching for Strivers Running Club and reading. Her talk at TEDxNatick 2017 electrified the audience.
Bill Littlefield, NPR Radio Host of Only a Game
Bill hosts the award-winning weekly sports radio program “Only A Game,” which tells the stories behind the box scores, including the explosion of interest in women's sports, competitive opportunities for the disabled and the business of sports — as well as who wins and who loses. Bill is insightful, humorous and creative when capturing the sentimentalities, quirks, and personalities of the sports world at all levels.
Kathleen Tullie, Founder & Executive Director of BOKS
A Natick resident, Kathleen has built BOKS (Build Our Kids’ Success) from a local to a national nonprofit organization addressing childhood inactivity and obesity. Kathleen has been profiled by CBS, Huffington Post, NESN, NPR, and other media. Family Circle listed her as one of the “20 Most Influential Moms.” Kathleen was honored by First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative in 2013 and 2014.
Jamele Adams, Dean, Brandeis University
As Dean of Students, Jamele is responsible for the quality of student life outside the classroom. He promotes opportunities for students to engage in leadership activities and to experience personal, social, and emotional growth and development. Jamele brings high energy and fierce dedication to fostering a community of diversity and unity at Brandeis and beyond. He resides in Natick.
Bren Bataclan, Artist
A Boston-based artist, Bren paints whimsical characters that he has been drawing since childhood. Bren and his work have been profiled by the CBS Evening News, WGBH, The Washington Post, Boston Magazine and many other media outlets.
“TED” is an acronym for “Technology, Entertainment & Design” and speakers bring expertise, innovation and passion to all facets of these themes. An all-volunteer, community-driven initiative, TEDxNatick brings together community members, civic leaders, business leaders, technologists, artists, educators, and other professionals for thought-provoking talks, conversations and networking.
